Searching?

Why is it that in the Serenity Prayer, the first thing we do is ask God for peace. The hardest thing that an Alcoholic like myself to find, is serenity. Stopping my mind is like standing on the freeway, and traffic is coming at me at 70 miles an hour. The best I can do at times is to dodge (manipulation) or I must stand still and hope (pray) I don’t get hit. The message in the prayer is that I am making 4 appeals to the Power…. Peace, Acceptance, Courage, and Wisdom to know the differences of those things that I am asking for, which is to not walk on to the freeway in the first place. Learning not to do things is harder than learning to change things. This is the eternal search for me. Changing the behavior that makes me even think that walking on that freeway is a good idea. Insanity of mind.
