Writing

My first sponsor was big on me writing, and gave me many assignments. This was a great lesson on learning expression and putting thoughts to paper. I got away from my daily journal for a while, then I started to feel there was a missing component to my sobriety. Even though I did inventory on a yearly basis it wasn’t enough. Anyone that I helped along the way, I encouraged them to write as my sponsor had directed me. It is healing and rewarding for emotional health. There are many days, that I must use all the tools to put me in a good frame of mind. As with prayer and meditation, writing allows me to find center and to keep my day focused. An Alcoholic such as myself must keep perspective and vigilance on arresting the disease that can manifest in many ways, and taking pen to paper helps me to remember what it is I must surrender. Myself!
