What kind of friend do I want to be? You don’t have to ask that question, you have to live that question. Our code in AA is love and tolerance, the question I need to ask is am I living by that code. If we are truly trying to live by the Spiritual Principles, we are automatically edging closer to learning how to become people who know how to conduct themselves as a friend should. I should never have to be friendless, or lose someone I ever considered a friend, if I just live by that code. Within the body of that phrase, lies an entire world of possibilities of new friends. I shouldn’t expect someone to be a certain way, I should act the way a friend should act. It’s not on them the responsibility is mine, I am responsible to incorporate the Principles in all my affairs. I love all my friends and love is the key to a full life, when love is in your life there is no room to fill. An empty heart is a unused muscle.
