How Do I Tell My Heart

How do I tell my heart not to be hurt, when my brain and body tell me different. The body and mind determines pain and how much we should suffer. The heart doesn’t measure pain, it just knows it hurts and searches for relief. Heart pain reflects through depression, lonliness, fear, anxiety, isolation.
The 12 steps teach how to mend all of our affairs, with spiritual principles. We mend by becoming of service to someting other than ourselves. We become a part of, rather than isolating in our anguish of self. We walk a path of TRYING to remove our defects of character. When we become enlighted to our dilemmas, we can start to mend and the heart finds new happiness and joy. Is this serenity, a mind body and spirit building a united front of spiritual peace with all? It’s a great start.

Life As I Know It

Life today is very different as I knew it before sobriety. The things that were, are no longer. I don’t have to drive back streets to avoid the police. I don’t have to chase a bottle or a dealer to find my next drink or drug. I don’t have to hustle for money to keep up with my habits. I don’t have to lie to someone in my life that was worrying about where I was. I don’t have to be in jail or wake up in a strange town or place. Today I am not shackled to a disease that tries to destroy me and everything around me. Today I am free to choose what path I want to choose. Today that is life as I know it.
