So many times I have gotten tired of going to the same meetings, listening to the shares, seeing the same faces, day after day. I ask myself guestions, like why am i here, should I go to a different meeting, then after the committee shuts up, the whisper speaks, “your here because you’re an Alcoholic.” Then the message starts to filter through strangely through the same people, the same meeting, and then through a newcomer. You are here because of your need to LISTEN, to for the message that is being given to you so freely. It’s not them or it, it is me as always. My judgements, my expectations, and my need to remember that recovery lives in unity, and service, not the thoughts in my head. An old-timer told me once when I was complaining, he said “so what did you bring to the meeting other than your judgement and contempt.” I know that I can only get what I put into it. The real message is in the Power Greater than we that comes through, cleaning my house of the defects that stand in the way. Trusting the power of God, and learn to serve others. Thank you for making a 12 step call on me.
