It’s always a process to remember to ask in my daily meditation for the strength to find the willingness to try. Trying is the key to eventually removing those things that keep me in fear, pride, ego and want. By just finding the humility to ask the Power to remove a character flaw, or something that has become a burden is a major step. I realize that over the years I go into this mode of asking that a certain area of behavior be lifted but yet, I really don’t have an honest intent behind the request and default to that state of denial that tells me “I am trying, but nothing is working.” Nothing is working because I really am not allowing it to work, for fear of losing something I have become accustomed to having. I truly believe that the obsession of Alcohol was removed because my prayer for the obsession was truth . My actions of my past had put me in a place of desperation where the choices had been removed. Thus allowing the Spirit to enter through a portal of energy that came to me through those who were placed in my path to help the work to be accomplished. Once we become honest enough to hear the truth, the truth opens up the path for recovery. Allowing the Power to enter delivering us the ability, to have the willingness to try to change those things in our lives that need to be changed. But it won’t be lifted if I keep the window of truth shut. Honest, open minded, willing, the trilogy of the path to recover from any obsession that burdens or way to light.

AS LONG AS THEY KEEP COMING BACK
There is no wrong way to tell a new person or a chronic relapser to keep coming back. No matter how tired or frustated we can get, we must keep our hands and hearts out to them. This is a terrible disease with tragic consequences. Our basic instuctions tell us that we must keep the hand of AA extended out with love and tolerance. Some hard liners take a dim view of relapse, but those of us who have a reprieve from the grip of desperation know that it is possible, until it is impossible. Our brothers and sisters must be afforded every opportunity until the last breath. We must continue to give that message of hope to those who have come to that hopless state of mind and body. God bless or fellows who suffer this cold winter night. May they find the . warm light of grace in the morning.
