Being the good alcoholic that I am, I was constantly looking for loopholes. It’s mentioned in the Big Book as, “the easier softer way.” As I continue into the work, the more I see that there is no eiser softer way for me. It is a clear path to achieving sobriety, we must do the work as outlined, or the consequences are clearly marked out. We can live dry and miserable, or regain true spiritual health, by developing emotional sobriety. If we are just dry we live in the same contempt as before, we, are miserable, irritable, and discontent. I am so blessed to recognize when I step off into that judgmental frame of mind that keeps me in everlasting ignorance, that I must effectively, and vigorously, work all 12 steps, and live by the principles, that hold my hand into that place that we alcoholics dread so much, serenity. Thanks for the 12 calls.
